The Cornelia Street CaféIn EXILE

A Documentary by Michael Jacobsohn

After 41 years, The Cornelia Street Café closed. For owner, Robin Hirsch, the ending is reminiscent of his parents flight from Nazi Germany. Since the demise of the café's cabaret, Robin Hirsch has staged several events in EXILE, as he searches for a new home for his needy, artistic community.

Robin Hirsh observes:

“ A virtual space can’t replace the tangible reality of a physical space and a physical community, in which there is a shared experience. That is what is most profoundly

affecting for me. It is the loss of a community.”
